From 1st April 2026, one small change will confuse a lot of employees:
Form 16 will no longer be issued.
Yes, you read that right.
So What Will You Get Instead?
You will receive Form 130 from your employer. That’s it.
No new complexity. No extra compliance for you.
Just a new name with a slightly better format.
Don’t Overthink It
Most people will assume:
Something big has changed in tax.
Not really. Your salary, deductions, and tax calculation remain the same. Only the reporting format is upgraded.
Then Why This Change?
Because the system is becoming more data-driven.
Earlier, many employees faced this issue:
Salary in Form 16 ≠Salary in AIS
Result → confusion / notice
Now, Form 130 will be better aligned with income tax data.
Less mismatch = fewer problems
What You Should Do (Very Important)
Don’t ask HR for Form 16

Ask for Form 130
